Think Local

Summertime is a great time for farmer's markets and tons of fresh fruit and veggie options. Being in America, we take advantage a lot of conveniences such as fresh tomatoes in January or strawberries in November. But getting to know when fruits are in their natural season in your local area can really help your health and local community. Only buy and eat fresh produce when it would be available to harvest in your climate. Eat what naturally grows in your region. Buy from local growers. This doesn't necessarily mean going straight to the source. You can ask your grocery store produce guy where the shipment comes from if they don't already have it posted. If it's not from your own state, let alone your own country, DON'T BUY IT!

Studies show that if you eat from your own local area, and produce IN SEASON, you are drastically less likely to get sick from the common cold, influenza, and allergies. Don't believe me? Give it a try and prove me wrong- I dare ya!
